We consulted the dietary advice of the nation's healthcare experts leading the “food-as-medicine” movement to create a set of guidelines they could agree, identified the plant-nutritous foods they were prescribing.
The guidelines are based upon the scientific evidence that supports the benefits of a plant-nutritious diet and identifies traits of those prepared and packaged plant-based foods the medical community endorses as nutrient-dense, fiber-filled and disease fighting.

Plantricious continuously encourages respected medical experts and organizations to review our guidelines and publicly endorse them.

The Certified Plantricious Guidelines define what is means to be a plant-nutritious prepared or packaged food per the recommendations of the healthcare experts leading the "food-as-medicine" movement.
1. Must be whole food plant-based, contains no animal products
2. May be minimally processed
3. No added oil
4. No added sugars
5. No artificial additives or preservatives
6. Low sodium: 1mg or less of sodium for every 1 calorie
7. High fiber: 2g or more of fiber for every 100 calories

The Plantricious Friendly Certification identifies prepared and packaged foods that may be used as ingredients or as part of a Plantricious dish. The Plantricious Friendly Guidelines do not include restrictions on either sodium or fiber content. Plantricious Friendly foods may include, but are not limited to, condiments, sauces, beverages, dressings, marinades, snacks, etc.

Yes. All Plantricious foods are vegan but not all vegan foods are Plantricious. The Certified Plantricious certification specifically, was meant to make it easier to identify those plant-nutritious foods that are made with minimally processed whole plants, contain no added oils or sugars, low sodium in and high in fiber.
